7/28 Feed Your Face

We drive a prehistoric convertible Volkswagen. She is a senior citizen and I love her like she has human qualities. I feel most myself when I am cruising down the expressway with the top down, singing as loud as I can (my gift to the others on the expressway). I was out all day today in the baking sun. I wear sunscreen, but after a long day of errands, my face felt crusty.

As we were making dinner, I spontaneously peeled two large cukes  and pureed them with some mint from the backyard. I thought, “I’ll chill this wholesome mixture then dab it on my visage with a cotton ball later while I am chillin with my VegNews.  That will really revitalize and sooth my face.”

Who does that?? Who makes a vegan food for their face?

I swear, I do not know where these things are coming from. It is like I am now addicted to fresh food so much that consuming it is no longer adequate.

So here is the funny part. While we are eating, I say to Sandy, ” I want to find out if there are any real benefits to putting cucumber puree on your face besides just my perceived cooling  effect.”    So after we eat, I type cucumber juice on your face in to a search engine and found on ehow.com

http://www.ehow.com/how_5027550_rid-freckles-cucumber-juice.html

that cucumber juice applied with a cotton ball is supposed to lighten freckles and dark spots.  Isn’t that random! Anyone remember the Judy Blume book Freckle Juice?”

Our super secret, locavore, cucumber mint facial soother is chilling in the fridge as we speak. I will give you full details of my home brew spa treatment tomorrow.  We haven’t even used it yet and I am already excited. I am excited that I remained open enough to whip it up in the middle of the hurried frenzy of cooking dinner. Now we have a cool new thing to experience tonight and why not. I want to make room for the new.  New experiences, new foods and new beliefs about myself. This entire experience of being truly aware of what I am putting in and on my body has been so exciting.

I can’t believe it either but I do not yet have any photos of cukes, so enjoy this moment I captured while on a hike at the vegan retreat at the Leaven Center.

Have a delicious day and put something edible on your face.
