1/14 Let Thy Food Be Thy Medicine~Hippocrates

Last night we watched the movie  Food Matters. It was created by nutritionists turned filmmakers James Colquhoun and Laurentine ten Bosch. Motivated by an illness in their own family, they set out on a journey to find out the truth about nutrition, illness and wellness. Food Matters discusses food as the key to wellness, disease prevention and cure. It delves into the benefits of both  whole organic foods and vitamin supplements building on the belief that the body inherently has the ability to heal itself…we just need to feed it appropriately for healing to occur.

The movie is really interesting without being hard to relate to or too preachy. Blah, blah blah…you have to immediately change to an all raw food diet or you will die. I can’t relate to that so help me get there in a way that I can at least adjust my diet little by little to see the most beneficial aspects of the foods I eat. The movie did not take an all or nothing approach which I find so divisive. It conveyed a sense of urgency but with a message of hope and sustainable changes that we can all strive for.

I give it two forks up. Check your local library and video rentals. Food Matters has been getting positive press so I am sure someone will have it. If you would like to borrow mine, shoot me an email or a comment and we can start passing it around like an informational pay it forward that you only have to enjoy then pass on. It will be fun.

Have a delicious day.
