3/27 Conscious Eating Conference

Conscious Eating: Local, Organic, Plant-Based – What is Truly Sustainable?

Videos were made available yesterday from a Conscious Eating Conference that was held in Berkley, Ca. in February.   This was the 10th annual conference and it addressed some compelling topics around food justice, compassion for farmed animals, new food choice perspectives and more.  The  organizers of the event describe it in this synopsis:

Conscious Eating will inform and empower our community on the true nature of sustainable food choices. Food is in our lives every day, but what are the most ethical, environmental and healthy choices to make? Are you sure you know? Experts in the field of sustainable agriculture and eating will answer your questions and help you understand why we need a truly stable global and local food system where we all have access to healthy food, where all are treated with compassion, and where all are well fed.”

Hosted by the United Poultry Concerns along with In Defense of AnimalsFood Empowerment Project & Berkeley Organization for Animal Advocacy, the  Conscious Eating Conference had a masterful line-up of speakers from different walks of the compassionate world.  One of the presenters was vegan cookbook maven, Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, author of the The Joy of Vegan Cooking, which is to the vegan kitchen, what Betty Crocker’s Cookbook was to kitchens in the 1950’s.   The one day conference had seven 50 minute presentations, available to view now by clicking here.  The sessions are sprinkled with a little California focus at times, but there is much to glean from each one. You can scroll down the page and click on the session you choose.  The videos are recorded live, which gives the feel of having been in attendance.

If you attended the conference or watch any of these videos, please share your thoughts.

Have a delicious day.
