10/5 Movie Night

Have you ever seen a documentary that rocked your world so hard you wanted to share it with everyone you knew?  Maybe it was the  first time you saw Forks Over Knives, King Corn or Supersize Me.  There are now more documentaries then ever about  our food. They span from how we grow i,t to how we get it and how we eat it.

If you have  been inspired by this kind of movie, the VegFund now offers a grant that will help you host an intimate  viewing party for 20 or an all out animal rights movie screening bash  for 500.  The VegFund is all about sharing the positive impact of a vegan lifestyle.

Their mission according to the site is to “Empower vegan activists worldwide by funding and supporting outreach activities that inspire people to choose a vegan lifestyle.”

What better way to do that than with an evening with friends?  That is the way I like to learn.  You can find out how to host a screening here.   The VegFund grant application and resources like recipes for vegan food to serve and literature to distribute can be found there too.

Early in our vegan journey we  began to host small movie nights at home.  I wrote about how wonderful it was to see our omnivore friends nosh on  vegan food while enjoying the movie Food Inc. at the same time.  See 8/13 Undercover Activism.

We kept it simple, ordered pizza, even some pies with cheese to not scare away those new to our veg lifestyle.  Much to our delight, they gobbled up the vegan pizza first!  Now we stay closer to our own passion and serve only vegan fare at movie nights, but it was a good start to immerse others in the joy.

We had so much fun in our own living room with friends, that we partnered with friends and hosted a larger screening at a library, which is exactly the type of event VegFund is willing to help you host.  We served vegan edibles and watched Forks over Knives. The room was packed. We had so much positive feedback. The impact was undeniable. I have been looking forward to doing it again and now I may even have some financial assistance to do so.

Thank you VegFund for this empowering grant opportunity.

What is your favorite inspiring movie?  Do you have one to suggest?

Have a delicious day.
