Yesterday I promised to share with you in today’s post about a vegan cheese that was new to us, called Sheese. We’ve sampled a few of their products and here is the first scoop about some of this non-dairy cheesy delight. I used the Gouda to make the Garlicky, Gouda Croutons that topped the roasted veggie bisque. The Gouda (along with their other hard cheeses) come in a small wheel in a resealable package. Sheese makes Strong Cheddar, Medium Cheddar, Smoked Cheddar, Cheddar With Chives, Mozzarella , Blue Cheese and my beloved Gouda.
I shredded it first to bake on the croutons and it created perfect shreds of soft, fragrant cheese. It felt like a full fat dairy cheese. The taste was intoxicatingly pungent like Gouda and made the sides of your mouth tingle like a really good cheese should.
I then sliced the Gouda to see what it would taste like or feel like on a
cracker, and it was a beautiful thing. I wanted to crack open a bottle of red wine and play Bistro. I swear to you, I saw a tear roll down Sandy’s cheese loving cheek…thats how visceral the experience was. Sheese is handcrafted in the United Kingdom and is available in the US through Black Duck Imports. Here is a link to find them in stores in some states or online. Where to buy Sheese.
We Have A Winner
On the second day of Vegan Joy, Exploits gave to me a cool magnet and a DVD. Congratulations Maria, you are the Day Two winner of the Twelve Days of Vegan Joy Giveaway. You have scored a Peace, Love, Tofu magnet and an exclusive DVD from PETA titled, Speaking Up For Animals. Congrats Maria and thank you for your comments.
I would also like to thank our friends from PETA for their amazing work and cool swag, and our friends from the Etsy store The Dog Coat Lady. She makes expressive and fun buttons, magnets and key chains. She has been incredibly generous with Exploits and always donates a portion of her profits to various animal rescue / veg groups. Her pieces are meaningful, inexpensive and will make the most fantastic gifts for all occasions.
Have a delicious day.
