9/21 An Appetizer of Thanks

Over the past four months of this vegan experience, I have become significantly more aware of what I am eating. I read every label like a forensic scientist. We prepare most of our meals at home with more organic and local vegetables than I have ever purchased in the past. I love experiencing these transformations and have found it very exciting.

I have also begun to pay attention to how I am eating. After lovingly preparing a meal that is abundant with beautiful vegan ingredients, I wouldn’t insult it by eating standing up or sitting in front of the computer as I had in the past.

As our growth has continued we have started to pause before digging in to express thanks for the delish meal we are about to enjoy. Neither one of us had ever done this, but adding it to our meal time has felt so natural and loving. It feels right to express gratitude for an inspired meal that was prepared with passion.

I wanted to share our new found  basic approach to blessing our meal because of how incredibly soul satisfying it is. The act is pure and rooted in positive intention. Taking that moment helps me be fully present. If you would like it to be a religious blessing…do that. If you would like to thank the universe or the store or the plants or the chef…do that. The end result is the same, being thankful feels good and infuses your meal with love.

I found this beautiful passage in a book about gratitude and wanted to pass it on. I believe it transcends all faiths and can be meaningful to any of us. Enjoy.

I am thankful for perfect health and abundant good that finds its way to me by means and avenues in my life that I have made open and available for the divine flow. I am thankful for all the joy that arises in my consciousness. I am thankful for the abundant health that is mine now.  I am grateful for the opportunity to know more and grow more in consciousness.  ~ Dr. Frank Richelieu

Have a delicious day.
