5/20 News You Can Use

I am always excited to hear new and easy ways to enhance my life and health. I am more motivated by promise than  fear, and by adding as opposed to limiting. When I read the title …”Cacao is the new Broccoli”  I thought…now that is news I can use.

The article  said that 100 grams (about a candy bars worth) of dark chocolate contains as many antioxidants as 100 grams each of spinach, prunes, raisins, kale and brussels sprouts combined. I love a juicy prune, but if offered a choice between the two….seriously??!

If  the fear of weight gain has kept you away from your daily chocolate fix, release your fears and get to the store! A recent study also found that consuming 100 grams of dark chocolate a day reduced food cravings. In addition, dark chocolate has  stress hormone reducing powers.  We all know that stress  can create not only weight gain, but a whole host of insidious diseases.

It seems clear to me…we owe it to ourselves, heck the world, to consume more dark chocolate.

There are now an abundance of environmentally aware and earth lovin companies crafting divine, vegan dark chocolate edibles.  They are focused on creating the most decadent products while employing fair trade practices, eco-friendly cacao growing and crafting their artful edibles with organic ingredients.

This is a perfect example of small stepping really making a difference. Choosing a chocolate bar hardly seems like creating effective change, but to me it is. They have done  the leg work to produce a product that is environmentally friendly, compassionately created and has obvious health benefits!! That is an easy choice to make.

When you indulge, treat yourself to the best because you deserve it. Your body will reward you, your mind will relax with gratitude and joy knowing that you made a compassionate choice that was SO divine.

My fave is Endangered Species Dark Chocolate with Cacoa Nibs. Yum. Find them here:  Chocolate bars.

Let me know your favorites. I will try them and and share them.

Have a chocolatey day!
